Sometimes in life, you meet people and the chemistry is unlike anything you've experienced before or since. I've had that with friendships that fizzled out: No argument, no bad feeling, just Old Father Time doing his wicked work. What a spoilsport he is.
A great read on improv. I was inspired by Mischief Movie Night In to try my hand at improv this past July. I found an online group out of LA and it's truly the best thing I've done. I like how you talked about finding people who are willing to play. There's no competition, but a great sense of community. I've also taken classes with And Also Improv online. Improv has been a life changer.
Thanks Jennifer, that's lovely to hear. It's brilliant that you've been doing some improv, and that it's been so rewarding! I hope you continue to enjoy the adventure and (as you say) the sense of community it brings : )
A lovely read Susan, and i'm recalling many salad days of care-free short form gigs before the world melted down. Sometimes a round of New Choice is a perfect salve
Hello Su it’s Alex. Absolutely loved reading this and couldn’t agree more… everything that I love most about improv was packed into those two groups - figuring stuff out, curiosity, teasing and mischief and play and honestly, love. Not in London much these days but saw Abag last year which was lovely. Hope all is well with you!
Ah Alex! I was going to send this to you! Yes exactly, beautifully put. How lucky we were to have all of that mischievous playtime together. What a gang : )
Hi Susan, I am a great fan of you're work, so don't let some negative reviews bother you. I see you do Improv which helps you're skills at acting and impressions, which I think are very funny. Good luck with you're Improv shows. I see you have done acting roles as well which is very impressive.
Personally I have found improv really helpful for the other types of comedy I do. The improv mindset has made me happier to try things out and get the first draft (of anything - jokes/sitcom/5 minute set etc) written. So I'd definitely recommend doing improv classes/doing improv if you have the time!

I love reading about people's first improv gigs - it feels so magical to hear about the beginnings of something so FUN!
Thanks Viki! Yes those early days of discovery are so special : )
Simply loved reading this. x
As a stand up comic, I was seriously contemplating doing an improv troop? Will this help me? Or will it do wet my initial goal?
